Software Development for a Lab System

On behalf of a chemical company we developed a lab system that is free configurable and simulates production plants in laboratory scale. If required, it should be adapted to the real conditions of production by scale-up.

The software should also provide the potential to manage, query or where applicable to modify every within the plant defined parameter, particularly with regard to later upgradings. Furthermore the users should have the possibility to define own control procedures as well as own controlcycle rules.

We had a BASIC programming interface at our disposal. To develop the control software we used also BASIC: the technical BASIC (Rocky Mountain Basic) from Hewlett-Packard that reminds much to FORTRAN77 and provides many functions for the so-called 'interfacing' (interface handling on register level) and 'interrupt handling' (the possibility to implement own interrupt-service-routines).
